A multicultural friendship

Our names start with the same first letter. That's how we got to know each other, more than 6 years ago, we depart and reunion and we don't meet so much, yet our friendship is sincere.

He is an arabic friend not from my country; we both loved each other; there were many things common between us, we both read too much and we both care about being human.
he was a multicultural person traveled to several places and he has friends from every country on our earth !!!

i always loved to meet him, he is from those rare sincere friends you will ever meet in your life, those whom are ready to come to you from far places, get you a present and write you sincere pure words full of care and love.

i was always astonished by the amount of info he knows, he knows something about everything, it was very rare to tell him about something he had never heard about before.

what also was common between us is this question: "religion and life, religion and science, eastern civilization and western civilization."

we never confessed to each other clearly that we have certain questions about our faith and the others faith. Yet it is always obvious between the lines of our talking together.

we had two different religions and we both are rebels, we don't simply believe in something because we were told to believe in it.

so our chattings were so delightful to both of us, as we both learnt from each other.
both our countries had a revolution and we both participated.

"what is the most powerful emotion?" he once asked me, i replied:"love!!" he smiled and said:"no, it is fear"
we remained silent for few moments, i was thinking with him, "yes, you are probably right!" i replied.

he continued:" fear can make you do what you will never dare to do, the second most powerful feeling is faith and then love."
I thought for few moments probably he is right, "but the nature of the three are different" I said,
"what do you mean" he questioned.
" fear is a bondage, it is powerful because it has ties, faith is magical, you can never really define it, while love is freedom, wings spread in a beautiful weather over a calm sea."
we both smiled for a moment.

another point we talked about one day, "what are the standards for pride"
i asked him this question: "If there are two tribes, a short people tribe and a long ppl tribe, those are proud when they are more short, while the others are proud when they are more tall!!, what will you get when reading both pride?" he replied: "a conflict!"
"exactly, and you will automatically take one of the sides, either the short ones or the tall ones."

we were talking how it is nonsense to have a discussion between two religions as both depend on different standards, "we must understand that it is a total personal issue, you choose the standars where you count on it. and after that make your own comparison"

we also talked many times about what we dont like in his people and culture, both are willing to see his country a better place, yet we both understand that it will be a long road till each country reach the shore,
also we many times talked about what we don't like in our religion people, "they do mistakes "
"i agree" i replied.
"we must understand that they are sharing as much as they understand and as much as they are capable to understand."
i smiled.

i am lucky to have him as a friend
whats really unique in our friendship is our love to each other and our willingness to learn and understand. a wise loving open minded friend is a gift from God, with him i met more people then i will ever meet in my life, with him i understood more info than what i will ever get, with him i feel that i have an opinion that it is good to share, with him i feel this AWESOME GIFT God gave me which is my humanity.

proud to be a human being.
Glad that Y.O. is my friend, and as years pass by, the gold remains gold and keeps its price.
